Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Chandigarh Direct (“we”, “us”) helps tenants rent homes directly from owners in Chandigarh. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.
Chandigarh Direct is operated by [Operator full name or business name] (the “Data Fiduciary”), [Address], Chandigarh, India. By using Chandigarh Direct you agree to this policy and to our Terms of Use.
1. What we collect
We only collect what we need to run the service:
- Account: your mobile number (used to log in with a one-time code), the name you give us, whether you use Chandigarh Direct as a tenant and/or owner, and, for owners, an optional email address.
- Listings (owners): the property’s address, sector, rent, deposit, features, description and photos. We remove hidden information from photos (including GPS location) when you upload them.
- Verification (owners, optional): documents you choose to upload to verify ownership or identity. These are stored privately and are only visible to our review team.
- Activity: homes you save, enquiries, messages, visit requests, saved searches and alerts, rentals you confirm, reviews, reports and feedback you send, and which owners you have contacted (to count your owner contacts).
- Payments: if you buy owner contacts, the amount, date and the UPI reference number (UTR) you give us. We never see your UPI PIN or bank login.
- Technical: your IP address, device and browser type, and server logs, used for security, preventing abuse and fixing problems. We use two cookies: one that keeps you logged in and one that remembers your language. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
We do not ask for Aadhaar numbers, bank details or passwords, and we never will over phone or WhatsApp.
2. How we use it
- To create your account and log you in.
- To show listings, connect tenants with owners, and deliver enquiries, messages and visit requests.
- To send notifications and alerts you ask for (for example, new homes matching a saved search).
- To review listings before they go live, verify owners, and detect brokers, fake listings and fraud.
- To keep the service secure, enforce our Terms, and meet legal obligations.
- To understand what is working and improve Chandigarh Direct (using your feedback and aggregated usage).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. How long we keep it
- Account, listing and activity data: while your account is active, and deleted or anonymised within 90 days after you ask us to delete it.
- Login records (your number and when you asked for a code — never the code itself): 30 days. Server logs: up to 90 days.
- Verification documents: while your owner account is active, and deleted with your account on request, unless needed for an open fraud report.
- We may keep limited records longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes.
5. How we protect it
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Verification documents are kept in private storage and opened only through short-lived links. Login uses one-time codes with strict limits, and admin access is restricted and logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
6. Your rights and choices
You can:
- see and correct most of your information yourself in your account and listings;
- ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with;
- ask us to correct, complete or delete your data, or withdraw your consent (this may mean closing your account);
- nominate someone to exercise these rights if you are unable to; and
- raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
Email [contact email] from, or mentioning, your registered mobile number. We will reply within 30 days.
7. Children
Chandigarh Direct is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Grievance Officer
If you have a concern about your data or content on Chandigarh Direct, contact our Grievance Officer: [Grievance Officer name], [grievance email], [Address], Chandigarh, India. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and change the “Last updated” date. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app before they take effect.
